I love the look of the vintage dishwashers but love the way my new Bosch cleans like a boss. My Bosch has the third rack for the silverware...

I need advice, suggestions and ideas.

Thanks, Sarah

What are your options? Vintage kitchen kind of calls for vintage DW, but having had some vintage stuff some is better than others. But that said I have zero issues with my new KA, never a dirty dish, and all but silent.

Modern dishwasher with a vintage looking front?

I have to be honest with you.  I am a little bit of a Zillow junkie.  I love looking at houses especially the kitchens and especially vintage kitchens. Every time I see a really nice vintage kitchen with a modern dishwasher its a little bit of a downer.

Having said that I have also lived with vintage machines (which I didn't hate) but I have now had a Bosch for almost three years and you are correct.  They clean really well.

There are companies like Big Chill and Smeg that make modern machines to look vintage and they come in many colors.  Big Chill also makes a panel that will attach to some modern dishwashers.  So, not sure if your budget allows but this would be an option.  Unfortunately, they aren't cheap but it's a great option.

I know there are some here who will never agree that a modern machine cleans better.  I WAS one of them but now that I have used my Bosch for almost three years, I have to say there are advantages to modern machines.  I hate that they take as long as they do and I hate that they are as quiet as they are because I like the sounds.  However, there are items I put in that I know my vintage KA or Maytag could never touch.

I have a vintage KitchenAid that came with my apartment and I love it. It's noisy, but it does a good job and is quick as well as seemingly is very robust. It's going with me when I move.

I would say it depends in what is available. My kitchen was remodeled last year and I got a brand new kitchenaid and it’ cleans just as good as the 20 year old kitchenaid I had in its place.

Buy new

Buy a new one. Get one with hidden controls, remove the front cover and get it powder coated turquoise and add a cool chrome handle.

Since my husband and I bought our house in 2010, we have had 2 KitchenAid top-of-the-line dishwashers. Both had/have awesome cleaning performance, but drying was/is mediocre even with fan-forced air flow. The first one had reliability problems with the power unit. Why did we buy a second one? We were told all of the issues we had with the first one had been corrected. Time will tell.

Ding, ding, ding I think we have a winner!

Buy new

I think that is  the best suggestion I've seen here.
