Hii Linda, Thank you for the photos, it looks to be in very nice condition. FYI, the gray hose inside is the fill hose for the washer, the smaller white-ish hose with what looks like a shower head at one end does not belong to the washer. One thing you should do is plug it in and turn the wash timer (to turn on the motor) and see if the gray rotors/impellers in the wash tub turn. This washer has a very unique drive belt which can break due to being 45-50 years old, but especially if it sat unused for years. This drive belt is NLA (no longer available) and a custom drive belt must be made in order to use the washer portion. I’m in California so I’m not interested in buying it, but what price do you think you want for it? Regards, Kevin |

Kevin, Thanks for your input. I will do that tomorrow and see if it works. To be honest I have no idea what it is worth. Do you have an idea? We just thought that it was something a collector may want. Thanks, Lindy |

I had a fabrication company in East Los Angeles make a new belt for my A50. (Thank you Revvinkevin!) It was somewhat inexpensive (I don't remember exactly, but I think I paid $20 or $30 to have the belt custom made) and the washer runs like new. Best of all, the diverter valve is INTACT! We are located in Niles, Illinois. The closest largest landmark would be Chicago O'Hare airport. Hope this helps. Lindy |

Did you turn the wash dial to a minute setting? If you don’t do this the impellers won’t move. Have you tried the spinner yet? If you close the lid and pull the lock shut on top the spinner should start up.
If the impellers don’t work when you set the timer you may need a new belt. Reply #7 gives info on obtaining a replacement belt for your A-50.

Belts for these machines and matching dryer can be obtained at very reasonable prices at McMaster Carr Co. I bought several to have as replacements if needed for both machines. |
