Good Evening :
Having a heck of a time getting the first of the two center post seals into my machine ( which I recall I did 10 years back with the first re-build ). Lots of turbine oil to pre-lube the outside of the seal, and the inside of the center post as well. Using a piece of copper ( thick wall ) tube that is the same diameter as the seal, and slightly smaller diameter than the center post itself, so it should be able to drive the seal down to make contact with the top surface of the upper bearing. I used this same piece of tubing 10 years ago, and even then it was difficult. Why so much pounding to get it to budge a millimeter or so ? Are the seals so air-tight as to prevent the air pocket in between the bearing and the seal from escaping, and hence I'm not able to get the seal to 'drive home'
Very frustrating,
Any one else 'been there, done that' and have any tricks of the trade to get this seal to position itself properly ?
Thanks !
