Well after 33 years since that ground breaking series of "The Secret Life Of" it has now be digitally remastered and has a bonus of Tim Hunkin the presenter narrating at the end of each video discussing the programme .
I can't tell you how excited we all where as collectors and appliance geeks to have this series air, these are now all on Tim Hunkins own video channel. I still have all my VHS tapes of the series and Ferguson Videostar recorder lol. Here's the washing machine !! |

they cut a whole Hotpoint Liberator front loader in half, and showed the components
i also remember a Spencer industrial washer being shown at some point, along with a Hoover Keymatic without panels, another Hotpoint Liberator being put on a spin without any concrete blocks, the spin dryer was possibly a Creda Debonair, there was also possibly an English Electric Liberator shown at some point, along with a clip of a Whirlpool film showing some machines from the 1960's, there was also a Rolls Rapide advert shown, along with a Bendix Home Washer there was also a part where Rex Garrod flipped a car via a solenoid valve and compressed air a Candy machine can quite easily be seen in some of the last shots of the machine pile before the panorama shot the Hotpoint range of 1986 was possibly discontinued around the time the series the episode was aired in 1988, the 9544 was possibly coming off the production line by that time probably a lot more that i'm thinking of but can't actually remember the machines or where they were |
