YES, Goatfarmer, I was looking for this!

I actually found one on Facebook Marketplace that's a lot closer to me, in St. Louis, and just bought it. I'm getting ready to list it on uShip for pickup and delivery to me in Kansas City. That one *may* be more uncommon than the one above, as the inner door is made of tempered GLASS, a feature I have NEVER seen before! It is pretty complete with the bins, meat keeper drawer, etc., and in clean running condition. According to the seller, it was made in 1948. I'm posting pictures of it so you can see what it looks like~

Goatfarmer, thank you so much for posting this and to Ralph for contacting me via email about the Facebook Marketplace listing. By the way, would any of you have a rough idea of what mine weighs? I need that info for uShip. Thanks in advance!

Congratulations!

Congratulations on your new fridge! It looks great. Although I have seen several Philcos with the inner door, I have never seen one like yours with the glass inner door.

Glad you snagged a good one!  It's in much nicer shape than the subject fridge.  The see-through inner door makes so much more sense!

Sorry I can't assist with the weight.

Congrats!

Tikld! Yours does look much better than the Michigan example. But I like the glass freezer doors on the Michigan one, maybe a way to find some for yours.

Door within a door

Wow Sally, what a fantastic fridge. I had thought the door within a door was a fairly recent idea. I hope you can enjoy it for many years.

Thank you all! My Philco arrived last Saturday and works fantastically well--I'm in love with it. It just needs to have the gasket around the outer door replaced as it's badly dry rotted. It's my understanding that Philco came up with the inner door as a way to get around Crosley's patent at the time for door shelves.

I've actually come across Philco Conservadors as early as 1939, so this design has been around for quite some time, but the glass inner door is apparently a 1948 design, and oh SO cool.

Yay Sally!

You can find replacement gasket material on line.  You can order a sample ring and likely find a perfect match.  Here's the link:
