As I have said before, Ma liked Cascade, and I liked Calgonite, when it was still made. We weren't too fond of Finish.......but we never tried Dishwasher all.

Did it perform well?

I think we tried it a time or two. I just predominantly remember having Calgonite, ElectraSol, maybe Finish sometimes, and maybe even Cascade. Our neighbors with the LK Combo used Dishwasher All in their 1961 Spin Tube.

Yes, I remember we used it a few times in the '68 Viking top-loader.  It didn't seem to clean as well as the Electra-Sol we usually used, though.  Tried it again when the Viking got upgraded to a GE Potscrubber but it wasn't the preferred choice.  That machine did best with Cascade.

I think I have an old box of it somewhere in my collection.

Remember the Dishwasher All ad on television, probably the latter sixties.

They called Dishwasher All, "The Stripper." They played David Roses hit record, "The Stripper" and the front of the box of dishwasher all had a zipper. It was zipped down and they showed water sheeting off of glassware, saying Dishwasher All would strip your dishes of spots.

My mom used it occasionally in our Modern Maid and then later our General Electric Potscrubber. As far as I remember it worked well. It was a blue powder with little darker blue sparkles in it and it smelled really good.

My mom usually alternated between it and Calgonite depending on price, sales, etc.

Used it a few times back in the day. From what I remember it seemed to do a decent job. Also tried Palmolive and it was about the same as the All. Personally, I preferred Electro-Sol and Finish for the GE's that I used.

Electro-Sol. I had forgotten all about that. My mom sometimes bought Electro-Sol. I think it was made by Economics Laboratories, if I recall correctly, the same company back then that made Finish. It worked well as I remember, though wasn't as pretty in color, nor smelled as good as Dishwasher All.

We never seemed to have had as good of results with Cascade in the late sixties, so my mom and/or dad rarely bought it.

For some reason I don't remember a Palmolive DW detergent. Maybe is wasn't marketed as heavily in our area in the sixties.

Dishwasher All was our house DW brand. Prolly because a sample pack came with the dishwasher. I remember frequently lots of it was left caked inside the detergent dispenser after the cycle was over. I loved the dark blue foil package.

Economics Laboratories (Ecolab) had both Electrasol and Finish; ostensibly Finish was locally customized to water conditions.

That was all we used, until they discontinued it. We used Electra-sol than my folks got a Kitchen Aid Custom, and my mom started buying Safeway's brand in the bucket. it worked fine Until they stopped selling that, then they switched to Cascade Complete. Where they lived had soft water, so they could use just about anything.
Hugs,
David

I used AlL Dishwasher in the 1970s in my very basic no-frills top load Kitchen Aid. It worked well. The alternate was Electrosol.
