Agitator direct-drive with a recirculation pretreatment function ... very minimal fill to dissolve the detergent, spin at low speed to saturate/flush the load with concentrated solution. Whirlpool and Kenmore electronic models, and also with a rotary timer. The electronic models adjust the agitation speed based on the selected water level to minimize the "shredmore" effect. Catalyst as such normally refers to the agitator DD models but Calypsos were also touted as having Catalyst Cleaning Action, which is the extra concentration of the wash solution until the target fill level is reached for normal full recirculation flow. Kenmore Calypso models had a Stain Treat option which filled in steps to extend the concentrated treatment time. | ||
