if the main tub seal is leaking i checked back on earlier posts i made here in 2013 and came up with this part. no. 474733. at that time i bought one at part select.com
i just checked ebay and found one there also. i did rebuild that 1-18 i have back then and put in a new tub seal and bellows. bellows are tough to find, i don't think i have any for a 1-18 but will check. maybe someone here will help you find one also. mine was leaking when i got it so i just started tearing it apart and put it back with new seal and bellows and leak problem solved. unfortunately 3 years ago mine broke at the agitate arm assembly and i am always looking for that part or another 1-18 that i can use for that part. good luck with yours. by all means if you can't fix it please done throw it out! |

I can double check that part # when we get home from freezing our arses off in VT (it was 33 and light snow this AM). I have a new OEM tub seal that PhilR and I picked up at a defunct FD dealer a few years ago, as my 1-18 is awaiting the same repair, it was pissing all over there floor but the bellows is OK..

474733 is a distributors PN for the GM Frigidaire 9956914 seal kit, which included the bellow seal and seat, (reference 5041 in blue). There are several options for this kit out on ebay.
The full seal repair kit was PN 9956935 (reference 504, in yellow), which included 9956914, as well as the seal holder, screws, etc. Original PN for the whole kit was 6599325. If the outer water bellows (PN 638860, there are plenty out there) does not have a hole in it, at a minimum the 9956914 seal should be replaced, if not the whole assembly of 9956935. While not required a water and oil bellows plier set will make removing the snap rings for both bellows much easier, which will be required to get to the seal assembly. All PNs can/should be searched for by adding either the WCI 530 reference in front of the 7 digit PN, or 5300 in front of the 6 digit PN. Ben

I just found that outer bellows on e bay as well as 2 other parts sources. I googled part no. And was very surprised to see these bellows so available.
Now to find an agitate arm or the bearing part of it that the agitate shaft screws into. Looks like your 1-18 will be an easy fix too since both seal and bellows are available! |

Hi Chris,
Wish there were junk yards here in FL. I know of a bunch up in PA and NJ where I lived, and when my brother went to find car parts, I would look around at the old appliances there. We could probably find a drum in one of them. Sad thing is I know a few people back home that had 1-18's when they were new, but they are all long gone now. They were all well cared for, but when they stopped working just were replaced. |
