If I owned a vacation rental property, I'd equip it with no-nonsense, tough to kill appliances. I'd even consider a vintage Maytag, like the lowest model with large tub. Or a more recent DD Whirlpool sourced machine. Absolutely not a FL machine that could become a mold factory when subjected to regular misuse.
I don't know what I'd pick for a dishwasher, but again it would have to be a workhorse that was tough to throw off its game.
I'd also be very engaged and proactive about maintenance, and do my best to screen potential renters in order to protect my overall investment. |

People always complain that these machines are garbage. These people are stupid! When will people learn to take care of these machines? |

All it would take is a sign instructing renters to leave washer door and detergent tray open when leaving, along with instructing the cleaning crew to only wash bead linens and towels in HOT water with LCB added to the BD.
As for the DW The cleaning crew can run it while they are there with a DW cleaner about 4 times a year.
Hi David, If you know the owner I would let them know, if not complain to the rental agency, the moldy washer would be a real turn off to many renters and might even make someone sick that is sensitive to mold etc.
