I just bought a vintage Kenmore hand mixer (116.82800). Just wondering what the heck the tab thing at the front is for (P.S. Its still on its way via USPS).
Here's the pix from its Ebay listing:

Thanks in advance for your expertise and interest. Frank.

Of response...

Thanks sfh074, saves me looking like a fool trying to tug them out as with most old mixers.

I would have guessed....

.....that the metal tab was to hang the mixer on a wall rack (which may have originally come with the mixer).

Both maybe..

It looks like it will eject the beaters and can be used to hang the mixer.

Thanks too, philcobendixduo & checho

That was my first thought, with the beaters tucked in the space behind the tab.
But, the little slot underneath should have a keyhole shape for screw or nail heads.
Can't wait to plow this tank through some banana bread mix.

Update

The Kenmore hand mixer has arrived.

Tested it out in a batch of brownie mix, made with melted dark chocolate squares and mashed banana replacing the oil/butter. Delicious, as always.

I love these old '40s & '50s small appliances with motors strong enough to twist your arm off.
