There was a Kitchen-Aid KDC-21 at an estate sale this past weekend that was for sale. It's non-working in that it comes on, but it doesn't sound like the water is getting into the dishwasher even though we verified the water is on. It's located in a bar in a game room in the house, so looks like it's hardly been used since it wasn't the main dw. Is this worth getting when it's not working? They are asking $65, but I could probably get it for lower.

The problem could be something simple like a stuck valve due to lack of use over a period of nearly 35 years. I'd wager that whatever's wrong, it'll be an easy fix.
What I like about the Custom models is how well they lend themselves to stainless steel door and access panel inserts. With that upgrade, they become about the sleekest looking vintage KA dishwasher one can own.
Considering it's not in working order now, I wouldn't pay more than $50 for it, and would make a low-ball offer to get the negotiations rolling. |
