Looks to be in pretty good shape.  Says all in working order.

Neat!  The Cabinettes are complete and still have the radio - wonder if that also works.

"Wonder Kitchen"

I wonder how it came to be called this, as I have not seen any GE advertising that referred to the unit as such. The official name is the "Kitchen Center" as evidenced by advertisements of the time, and the name on the item itself.

There were various configurations available, with the common parts being the dishwasher (Electric Sink), and the stainless steel top with sink and surface cooking units. Some had the washer-dryer combo, others lacked it. Some had an oven below the cooktop, others had a storage cabinet.

The one shown appears to have its original single-handle faucet, which I think is Moen. Obviously this one was at least partially Turquoise Green originally. Hard to say if all these parts were as purchased when new, or if it was later assembled from two or more units.

I think the term "Wonder Kitchen" was mentioned in an early magazine ad for these (around 1955) where they were touted as being featured in a Levittown housing project.  I'll dig around for that ad.

Found it!

Here's that ad I mentioned.  Naturally I have a copy of it, ironically framed and displayed in my laundry room, not near my GE Kitchen... LOL

Thanks, Paul! If I've seen that ad before, it was a long time ago. I see they didn't capitalize the spelling of "wonder kitchen", so I guess they never used that as an official name.
