Hello! So, my trusty dryer has finally stopped working on me. After a bit of diagnosis, I can see that it needs a new motor. When I had it open, I saw that it could use a new belt as well as a rear seal. I have some experience repairing dryers, but none of this vintage. As this unit is in beautiful condition, I'd like to restore it to working order again. I was unable to find a model number anywhere inside or outside the chassis, and after a lot of Googling, I have been unable to find one that looks just like this one does. I have included some photos of the dryer.

The motor is part # 337099, which I have found a replacement for, but I want to make sure that I am also getting the correct new belt and seal. Any help that can point me in the right direction will be greatly appreciated!

1966 would be my guess since it’s the newer style with the solid bulkhead compared to the older Whirlpool dryers with the perforated drum back.

Andy,

The model/serial tag should be affixed to the edge of the loading port, visible when the door is open.  Model numbers are coded for year of market introduction.  Serial numbers are coded for year and week of factory production.  Cite both of them in a reply for an accurate dating.

The current motor will fit this dryer, the new motor comes with a pulley on it for driving the dum, so you will use the newer style belt pt # 341241 or he Heavy Duty belt is a 349533 if you can find it.

The rear drum seal should be easy to find I can get a Pt# when I am at work if you can not find the #.

Thank you for all of the feedback so far. I found the information plate, and here are the details...

Model Number: LRE6700W0
Stock No: LRE670
Serial Number: 17338 M649

Regarding the motor, I understand the the original part (337099) is not available, but I see it cross referenced with several other part numbers. Can someone give me the correct current part number for the motor, so I can ensure that I can get a matching belt and pulley? Lastly, which rear seal part number should I look for?

Thanks again!

The current motor that will fit your dryer is 279827 and the belt that works with your dryer and this motor is 341241. I personally like genuine OEM FSP Whirlpool parts but there are plenty of knock offs out there. This model does not come up in computer files so I’ll have to see if I have some old service information to be sure that the seal number is correct.

Thanks!

Thank you everyone! I've made an order for the motor, the maintenance kit and the seals. Here's hoping it will last me another 55 years!
