Folks:

Thread 86958 caught my attention.

There was an old RCA Whirlpool dryer. And then a 1969 Whirlpool washer.

The washer, a '69 Whirlpool is my dream machine.

Finally after years and years of looking at this site, the appliance gods have smiled upon their humble subject.

I am renting a truck and going to get it as soon as possible.

And John LeFevre (Combo52) is going to work with me to get it restored.

Question: Does any member on the East coast want the dryer?

If I’m going down to pick up one—I have no problem picking up two.

Secondly, I’m hearing rumors that there’s a wash-in somewhere down South this upcoming weekend.

My dream machine is in Robbinsville, NC.

So, I’m wondering if other members are going to be down in that vicinity.

Can anyone confirm or deny?

It's almost like there is a Santa Claus when our long-sought appliances appear. Have fun.

Just picked it up yesterday

Picked it up yesterday, exterior was dirty, but inside was sparkling brighter than a diamond, you can tell this was taken care of. Another thing I noticed is that it has a unique texture on the sides, kind of like on a refrigerator.

That had to be one of the last Norge built machines made. It is from the late 80’s to very early 90’s. It does look as if it was seldom used. Usually those machines rusted on the inside and even on the outside due to all of the splashing Norge wash action and the cheap paint job. But they did have a porcelain top and lid. Hope everything works well for you and I think you should create a new thread for this washer. Enjoy!

Wow Will that washer is is almost unused, hope you have lots of fun with it, I can hear it roaring along from here, LOL

Hi Dan, looking forward to seeing and working on your New Whirlpool Washer, the late 60s was a very good period for WP laundry appliances. WP was still improving the machines and the cost cutting of the 70s had not kicked in yet which really started to affect all US laundry appliances from WP, MT and everybody else.

Awesome Wards Washer!

I have the exact same model. Love the “pre spot” function! Great machine and love the full array of agitation and spin speed options.

Both of ya all got really, nice machines. I'm envious. Could we get an interior shot of the Whirlpool? That was an excellent washer as well, one of my favorites. I like the console on it also.

In its place

After some difficulties, I finally got it permanently hooked up. This will be my new daily driver right next to my moms speed queen

And it is a Dream Machine!!!

You will love that machine. As I said in an earlier thread, I have the same model and love the flexibility of wash/spin speed cycles. And of course the beguiling loud sounds it makes is heavenly, not to mention superior lint extraction and cleaning power!

Cheers!

Todd

Norge didn't last long...

I wonder since these machines are hard on clothes, could you just use the delicate cycle as a normal cycle, might help make the machine last longer too.

Those are awesome! My mother had one she bought from Western Auto under the Citation name. It had the black agitator and had flowers painted on the control panel.

Washerlover I know the beguiling loud sound you speak of because my mothers Norge/Citation made it! I loved watching it and listening to that thing wash and spin!
