The water level switch on my Whirlpool WTW5500SQ2 (all mechanical controls) is getting stuck on the lowest setting. Last night it almost got permanently stuck, but I managed to coax it on to the next setting. On the med-exlarge settings it works relatively ok. A new switch is $100. Is there any other remedy for this? I've sunk a lot of money into this machine over the past couple of years.

Haven't lifted the hood yet. Do you think electronic cleaner/lube would work? I don't have any plastic lube.

Getting stuck in that it won't turn?  Tried a bit of lubrication?

There's a used one on eBay for $29 (free ship) and a claimed new for $30 (free ship).  Several others used under the original number 8577844.

Yes try the electronic cleaner-lube, this is a fairly common problem, I have lubed dozens of WLSs with good success.

Thanks a lot guys for the recommendations and links to cheaper switches. I haven't had time to open it up yet - probably this weekend I'll take the switch out and see if I can lubricate it.
