Hello fellow AWers -
Time to let go of another set in hopes to make some room for incoming appliances. On the chopping block is a 2004 Fisher & Paykel set I picked up locally last fall. F&P washers rarely pop up here in NE Iowa, let alone an IWL12 and the top loader dryers! What I liked about this set was that they were imported into the US rather than the later US made versions. From what I could find this was the last imported set before they started production in Clive, OH sometime in 2005. The IWL12 washer works great. After I picked up the set the washer received a deep cleaning of the inner and outer wash tubs, pump sump area and return hoses. There is slight cabinet damage that does not impact performance what so ever. The electric DEGX1 dryer did not work when I brought it home. The high limit stat had been tripped due to lint completely blocking the air path from the lint filter to the blower. The dryer was disassembled, cleaned, and I installed a brand new lint filter as the original had a tear. Sadly parts of these are pricey but I managed to snag a cheap used heating element with all the thermostats that will go with the dryer. Both lid switches were modified to watch the machine through the full cycle, however the lid needs to be closed in order for the washer to spin or the dryer to beginning tumbling. I wanted to offer the set to the AW crowd before I posted to the masses on FB market place. I have well over the asking price in them, but willing to negotiate. $200 OBO. Pick up in Cedar Falls, IA and I'm willing to help load for a shipper, if needed. Would like to have the set gone by July 1st. Ben |

Washer serial = April 2004 Dryer serial = May 2004 My set of the same models is June and July 2004. The lid locks are operating normally per your description. Phase 6 washers lock the lid only during spin. Dryers of course must lock the lid to tumble for the danger of getting a finger or worse caught on the drum ... but the exterior of the rotating drum isn't much interesting to watch. (A standard door lock strike plate works nicely to trick the latch. Bend the inner tab back 90°+ so it's just enough forward angle to catch under the slot cover. Hold the slot spring cover open with a small screwdriver and place the plate in with the inner tab toward the front so it fits beneath the cover. Hold the cover open with the screwdriver so tab clears it to remove the plate. The lid must not be closed with the plate in place so the lock tab doesn't go into the slot. But I didn't say any of that.) |
