Hi guys,

I am sick of repairing my new Frigidaire washer and came upon an opportunity to buy an older Whirlpool washer, but wanted to ask for advice.

Is this washer recommended and would it be easy to repair if needed? Would you know what model and year it could be, just by looking at the picture?

Thank you for the advice and info!

Late 80s WP DD Washer

This was a very good washer when built and easy to work on.

It could still be in good shape or be pretty tired, try to find out how many loads a week it was run and why they are getting rid of it and what its current operating condition is. 1 or 2 loads a week is very light use, more than 10 loads is pretty heavy use.

It could be worth anywhere from $20-250 depending to the answers to the questions above.

My guess would be late '86 all the way to 1991 or even later. That's only a qualified guess. For a definite guess, I would need a picture of the wash tub to see whether it is equipped with the Super Surgilator extra rollover - WP's version of the Sears Roebuck Dual Action agi. It did not appear until after the first year of DD rollout to super capacity machines circa 1987 (i.e. post-Design 2000).

Age can, of course, be known for sure via the model/serial details.
