I was watching the 1961 Bob Hope film "Bachelor In Paradise" the other night and was trying to figure out what brand of machine Bob over sudsed and flooded his house with suds. It looks like a sunny yellow Maytag combo. Has anyone seen this movie and can identify the machine?

It is an O'Keefe & Merritt gas combo. It does not spin; it only tumbles. The machine was sold under several names among them was One Minute, a name well known in the wringer washer market.

It must have taken a long time to dry since it didn't spin. The gas power must have had a high BTU rating. I've never heard of that brand. Thanks for the info.

Tom, wasn't this combo also a brief prop on The Donna Reed Show?

Bob, I only remember the '58 WPs. Sorry.  I do remember that the detergent was added to the O'Keefe & Merritt's lint screen opening before the oversudsing spectacular. I think one of these might have replaced the WP washer and dryer on Dennis the Menace, but that show was so irritating I can't even watch the reruns.

Well, that was 7 years ago. The world and I have undergone a lot of deterioration since then.

We have a pink one of these thanks to Kevin Benz rescue from a house in Southern Ca.

These were built in gas only and had a 33,000 BTU burner, I have yet to fire it up, it looks like it should do a good job and have no vibration problems.
