I originally found this set in late October 2020 and tried to acquire it in early November but it never worked out. A few weeks ago I received an update that the price had been reduced and I found it hard to believe that they were still for sale. Being really busy at work at the time I forgot about them again. Yesterday I contacted them and was able to make a 7 hour 400+ mile round trip and they are now in my possession.

The set is in surprisingly good shape for their age and had I been the one that found them in their original location they would be pristine. They still look good and will clean up really nice but they obtained some scratches and dents before I could save them. The back to the dryer is missing as the seller didn’t know what happened to it and at some point someone replaced the drain hose on the washer and took it apart from the back side. There were 10 additional screws added to unsuccessfully secure the cabinet and the retaining springs were doing nothing.

These poor things may have been abused unnecessarily but they will got the TLC they deserve now. It rained here most of the day today and is supposed to all week so they got a quick wipe down for the photos. The washer base frame has very little rust and the leveling legs still release when the machine is lifted. These are pictures from the ad.

The retaining clips were in a very awkward position and difficult to remove without too much porcelain damage. Most of the damage was done before I received them.

That set is a step-up sibling to my KAWE760WAL2 and KEYE760WAL0.

Washer has 5 temp combos, Extra Rinse, and Soak as part of the Prewash vs. mine 4 temps, none, and no Soak.  Extra Wash should be a true WP Super-Wash with partial drain.  It should have a sound insulation pad in the pedestal base.

Dryer has variable temps and adjustable EOC vs. mine 4 fixed temps and fixed EOC.

I usually hear some faint crunching when pulling/seating the cabinet clips on a porcelain top.

I've seen a YouTube video of a fellow tearing open the rear panel to change the water valves.  He broke the spray flume off and left it loose inside atop the tub ring.

Glenn are your machines still in use or on a rotation? Unfortunately there is no sound dampening device. I have a 2010 direct drive that I’m working on and it’s amazing the difference in weight and quality of paint job between the two cabinets.

Thanks Bob! I’ll be happy when this rainy weather resides and I have some time to clean and do some maintenance on these machines.

For future post references:

Washer model: KAWE860WAL3
Washer serial: CC1802185

Dryer model: KEYE860WAL1
Dryer serial: MC1401466

Well Milton I was listening to a weather forecast out of Houston earlier this morning and it sounds like rain down there's going to be more toward the end of the week on. The rain started here yesterday and will end sometime Wednesday afternoon.

I need a bigger service porch. I’d be happy with the ability to have multiple washers and dryers connected in the house, as I’m sure most here would. I’ve had the ‘71 copper tone whirlpool set on the service porch for the last 17 years but the washer needs new bearings and seals and I temporarily replaced it with a black kitchenaid superba from 2006 but left the whirlpool dryer although I have the matching kitchenaid dryer. I have a garage that I was going to air condition for a place to keep some of the nicer machines but that hasn’t happened yet and the old copper tone whirlpool set is in such good condition cosmetically that I don’t want to take them out until a conditioned space is ready for them.

Don’t worry the ‘71 whirlpool washer is residing in a bedroom. Lol!
