Are these Large tub Norges the same size tubs as the later magic chef owned Norge ? That agitator in the POD looks like it could give the early WP/KM agitators a run for their money.

Patrick, I think so. If not, the later tubs were just slightly bigger. That agitator took up a lot of space and as the larger capacities grew, the agitators got smaller. The aasher in the depiction of the POD is what our 1964 Norge looked like. Notice it says Norge14 on top of the left hand side of the console. Ours had Norge 15. Next came Norge 16 and finally Norge 18 in like 1967 or 1968.

Interesting that they abandoned the burpalator agitator for a filter stream type design but later years they brought it back. I do recall seeing ads that one year they had both, most interesting. Those fins on that agitator are huge. My mother’s washer had the filter stream located towards the back of the tub. Lint filter basket later broke as I recall. When the washer broke down my mother didn’t hesitate to replace it, I suspect she never was fond of the partial neutral drain maybe, but idk. I recall that washer cleaned everything very well, her model year was 1969 I think.

My mother had an early 70s Fedders made Norge with 3/4 h.p. motor and the BIG white burpilator. That machine was in our basement and good thing to because it was the loudest washer to this day I have heard, but man could that thing clean and that banging tub brake that stopped a fully loaded tub instantly !

I wanted a Maytag so bad when we had that washer. Looking back now i would love be to have that washer today.Ive learned since then to appreciate every moment I have and whatever I am using.
