Hey guys, my dryer recently stopped starting and I'm not entirely sure how to make it start up again. It's a 1979 Lady Kenmore, model no. 76894610. The indicator light is stuck on wrinkle guard. I really don't know what to do here, even after reading some of the service manual.

Does it make any noise or attempt to do anything when start switch pressed? Is the metal piece for the door safety switch still under the top lip of the dryer door? Does it click when manually pressed and released?

Is this a gas or electric dryer?

If electric, is it getting 240 volts? (240 volts line to line, 120 volts line to neutral or ground). It's possible that one side of the line is out, due to a bad circuit breaker, or loose or blown fuse if it is on a fused circuit. Other causes could be a loose wire, bad receptacle, plug or cord. Also possibly a bad connection or defective part in the dryer.

It's an up/down switch, and there's no noises out of the ordinary. Nothing happens when I flip the switch, save for the light at the top turning on. I shorted the contacts too, and it's the same. The door switch is still in the same place, and clicks whenever I press on it.

The dryer is electric. I checked the voltages, and I got 240 and 120 volts at the terminals.

Rover444:  ... The indicator light is stuck on wrinkle guard. ...
That means all the other membrane buttons on the panel are non-responsive?  May be a bad panel.

Probably a bad control board Pt# 60282 which was only used on a few models and is NLA.

If you really want to fix the dryer I may have a used one.

That is the likely bad part, I have the 1974-5 LKM dryer built just before this model and it uses the same control system and mine failed some years ago and I found a good used one and it is still working fine.

Sorry for the late reply, thanks everybody for your help. In the meantime I just reinstalled one of my other dryers, I'll try to fix this thing sometime.
