Hans, take consolation in the fact that this machine is a one-rinse wonder.  That's a deal-breaker for a lot of people here.

Probably the first and last time you’ll find one of these new in box. One rinse or not, it’s still awesome to own a piece like this that’s never been used. The price is fantastic for this. Hopefully someone here gets it and shows us lots of cool videos and pictures of it’s maiden voyage wash and unboxing!

Why does this never happen in Mass or Rhode Island?

I know.  It's like all of the GE Combination refrigerators that show up everywhere but near me.

This is definitely a beautiful dishwasher and it's still made my Hobart before Whirlpool brought out KitchenAid. I would snag it. lol

It's a 21 series.

I thought the 21 series was entirely manufactured by Whirlpool, even though the machines were still entirely Hobart in design.  I think that only the detergent cup dispensing system was modified by Whirlpool on the 21 series, but other than that, no big changes were made until the 23 series.

KA KD-21 DWs

Were entirely designed by Hobart, Control of Hobart went to Emerson Electric [ really WP ] in the middle of the KD-21 run, we started to see quality and design improvements with the KD-22 models that WP put in place.

The KA KD-23 models were the last that looked like Hobart machines at all but again many improvements were made with the 23 series the biggest of which was getting rid of the stinky filters.

Hope someone got it

I contacted the seller a few days in asking if he could hold until June 19. He responded that it was still available, but if not gone in the next couple days, it would be recycled.

That someone would send a NIB KA dw to scrap or recycling heap just breaks your heart.... Really do hope unit was saved by someone and given a good home.

Sadly sometimes sellers just aren't interested (or can) hold onto things, and if you're interested simply have to act quickly. Lost out on my first vintage AEG washer that way....

For hobbyists like those in group it often is exasperating as unless something is in one's neck of woods, things on CL, FB or whatever were seller wants cash in hand at collection can be a problem. Even when being given away for free one still has to line up collection and transport.

I don't recall where in the Bay Area this machine was located, but don't think it was all that far from Urban Ore in Berkeley.  I think they even have trucks that would come out and pick up something like this.

It would be a real shame if this machine was junked.  I absolutely do not have the room to store this until it might find a home, and there have been too many stories here of people securing a machine in good faith only to have the interested party change their mind.

Find with CL often sellers are really expecting and wanting often someone local. Maybe if you're close by that will work, but when people start contacting them from out of state or even several away they get spooked.

Idea that people collect appliances just sounds odd to some ears. Then you're asking someone to do likely more than they were planning when listing the thing on CL.

I can recall a few times that I told someone that I wanted a machine, but someone else stepped over me, and said they wanted it. I backed off, they never followed through, and it was scrapped. I've also saved machines for people who just have to have them, but then you never hear back.

You're a good friend and great person for offering. Sorry to hear someone would back out after putting someone though such efforts.
