thanks to shoppers spree here i saw a g.e. mobile maid in indiana that's not far away that i plan on buying tomorrow from a nice man i talked to today. will be driving from my place in milford to columbus indiana, then straight back to columbus ohio, imagine that! oh well, i love road trips!

it's a top loader and it does leak but i'll tear into it and see what i can do. i have a couple complete pump seals i got from larry in parma 10 years ago and hopefully the impeller will come off without a major hassle.

f.y.i. i have seen half of the pump seals on e bay lately for about 10 bucks, have bought a couple, part wd19x15 but the second half of the seal, the ceramic part is a wd19x16 which i cannot find anywhere! am hoping to research a bit and see if any other ceramic dishwasher seal parts will match it. if anyone has any ideas, please comment!

this one has a wood top and even though i have 5 or 6 of these (cant remember) in assorted colors already don't have one with a wood top. actually i did at one time and it was the g.e. hotpoint brand and i foolishly stripped it down and threw the frame away a few years ago! wish i'd kept it intact now. oh well.
won't do that again!

there is another one i'm possibly interested in but it's further away in chicagoland and i'm not really into driving to chicago for it, traffic is always a pain there! price is good, my usual $100 or less depending on it's condition and availablity of parts but it also has a pump leak! we shall see. stranger things have happened when it comes to my road trips.

and thanks to elginkid and volvo guy i now have that front loader g.e. with the same vertical pump style i like sitting in the carport just waiting for me to start trying to fix it. volvo said motor smokes when started. thanks again elginkid for giving it to me and volvo for bringing it to me! when i'm ready to part with that kd-12 it's yours volvo, will give it to you. only problem again, pump seals are non existant when it does eventually leak. and elgin, i do have that kds-18 in avacado i will give you if still interested. door panel has fair share of rust on it however.

anyway, got plenty of g.e. dishwashers to keep me busy for awhile! love that shopper's spree section that you added, thanks robert!

Did you find out about the Unicouple? There are two holes for the hoses, but no sign of the Unicouple.

i don't know that much about it, except that it leaks. i have a couple extra hose sets from that hotpoint i discarded and another machine i pitched a few years back. i can always put one on it if it needs it.

i just really like the outside looks of it with the harvest gold and the wood top, i can use the motor/pump for parts if nothing else.

i did just pick up a brand new motor off ebay a couple weeks ago for 25 bucks! and as said i know i have a pump seal so hopefully i will get it running. i actually use these mobile maids in my kitchen, love the noise they make! probably the loudest dishwashers i ever heard!

will post pics when i get it home and thanks for the comments guys!

Our first dishwasher . . .

. . .  was a GE portable, the one with the bow tie impeller.  It did a great job of cleaning the dishes.  The only problem was it could be heard in the next county when it was running.

After many years of excellent service, it was replaced with a Maytag built-in.

Our bow tie Mobile Maid was loud, too, UNLESS the lower rack was filled with plates which directed the water up to the cushioned lid, but all of that noise meant that we could be doing something else other than washing dishes and the kitchen had a door that we closed once the smasher was started unless mom had used any of her cast iron skillets, in which case she caught the water as it drained out of the machine to give them a quick wash. I sometimes stood there with a flashlight to shine down into the air baffle opening to watch the water swirl and surge in the bottom of the tub. GE very wisely put the opening of that baffle below the ends of the impeller and ran the impeller during the fill. We briefly had a Frigidaire by D&M top loading portable. It filled through the air vent before the motor started. We kept our water at 160F and when the impeller started, it would throw the hot water out through the air vent because it was still filling and the instantly heated air in the tub had to blast out somehow. Frigidaire could never find why it did that, but they saw it do it and took it back. That was the first appliance that made a brief visit to our house and then was replaced by one more to my liking.
