Seattle Coffee Gear has lots of videos about the Breville. I love their videos, hopefully they can help you make a decision. And there are more! lol I couldn't find any KitchenAid reviews on their channel, I guess they never sold that one. Kitchen Aid Vacuum Pot
I had one and I sold it on line. It worked fine and it was not that flimsy really. I think it would have held up well. The complaint I had was the same as the old Sunbeam Vacuum pots. I think they over extract the coffee for my personal taste. If I could have adjusted the amount of time the coffee stayed on top I likely would have kept it. I will tell you the coffee is HOT.
If you want a good coffeemaker that makes really hot coffee go with the Technivorm. You won't be sorry. I am like you in that I go through the trouble to roast the beans and grind them just before I make the coffee. I wan't a coffee maker that will get the water to the right temp. The Technivorm that I have does not do a pre infusion in the cycle (I simulate one manually) but from what I have read the new ones do. Mine is about 10 years old.
