My sister had a 4370 before she moved from Iowa to Florida. She left the old set at the house and bought a new set- WM3900

One week later the washer smelled like it caught fire and completely shut down. I asked her how much soap she put in, she says very minimal and she was washing two garments on speed wash. So it doesn’t sound like it was something she did. Has anyone heard of this or do you know what it might be? It won’t even turn on now and it has water in it.

hmm, Yeah that isn't good. it sounds like it is likely a power supply/control board issue judging by the fact that it will not turn on. LG washers have a small protection board inline with the power cord before it connects to the control board, so it is possible that this was the source of the smell.

Return window

Everything under 4 weeks would fall in the return window at our store and 1 week would most certainly qualify as DOA (Dead on arrival).

I'd contact the seller and try to arrange a swap.

Our store would cover the second delivery and installation if you had them installed by us the first time around.
But that really depends on the seller. Usually they are very helpful in such cases in the hope of retaining the customer.

We opened it up

So, only taking the top off, the power supply and control board seem to be ok. The bad burnt rubber smell is coming by the motor. I’m assuming the hall sensor is probably in the way and got burnt up.
They bought it at Costco- so they are still waiting to hear back from them.
