A friend of mine just obtained a Maytag washer & dryer. He is wondering how old these machines are and what kind of performance they give. The Model number is:
HAV6601AWW - Serial #16107556AX. I believe they are last generation Newton Maytags but not being familiar with these I'm not sure. Any info that anyone can give will be appreciated.

Maytag Washer Age

Hi Bob, your friends washer was built in Dec 2002, I can not get the model # to come up but it does not appear to be a Newton built DC washer, more likely a Norge-Tag or maybe an Amana-Tag, something is wrong with the first three letters in the model #.

Probably MAV6601AWW which is a herrin style Atlantis sloped front machine.

Thanks John - He is currently using a Maytag from the late 80's or early 90's with the orbital transmission - Which machine would be the better one to use. He was wondering and I don't like either so I cana't tell him. Thanks for your input.

Bob
