The Maytag DE/Electric Halo Of Heat dryers have the heating element that goes in a circle around the entire front of the dryer hence the name Halo Of Heat. The Maytag DG/Gas Halo Of Heat dryers have a access panel on the bottom right hand corner of the cabinet to have access to the pilot light and gas valve.
You can convert a Maytag Gas Halo Of Heat dryer to electric but it’s pretty much impossible to convert a Maytag Electric Halo Of Heat dryer to gas since you need to access the pilot or gas valve and the electric Halo Of Heat dryers don’t have the small access panel in the front to access the pilot or gas valve. | ||

 Here's what I recall from owning both types of HOH dryers:
The HOH dryers have entirely different heating system designs, with the gas models producing a flame at the bottom of the machine that sends heat out and around the front of the drum. Electric models have a coil that encircles the entire front of the drum. I imagine converting from one source of heat to another would pose quite a number of issues including voltage, but nothing is impossible.
I have seen later Maytag electric dryers that concentrate the coils into a similar housing to that used on gas models. Those designs might lend themselves better to attempts at conversion. Only the dismantlers among us know for sure. | ||
