What is the typical wash time of front load washers in the US and around the world? Rinses? What are you guys and gals seeing/observing? Normal and heavy wash are what I have in mind- though I'm curious about everything and everything.

for my LG normal loads take around 35-40 minutes without any options. we don't use heavy duty all too often but I think it adds roughly 30 minutes to the wash portion and an extra rinse or two. on ours it also uses more agressive wash actions.

That is fast! Any idea how long the first wash portion of the cycle is?

For my 2011 Duet, the Normal/Casual cycle with normal soil is 8-10 minutes. The cycle use very little water and no heater to maintain wash temp. Whites, light soil is 8 minutes; normal soil is 18 minutes and heavy soil level is 33-35 minutes. Bulky Items light soil is 9 minutes with a 3 minute soak; normal soil is 15-18 minutes with teh 3 minute soak and heavy soil on this cycle is 22 mintes. Heavy Duty cycle light soil is 18 minutes; normal soil level is 24 minutes and heavy soil is 42 minutes. Sanitize wash temperature adds about 25-40 minutes on each of those cycles depending upon soil level.

Not bad, a bit longer than a top loader, but not unreasonable at all.

Let's see`

mark_wpduet's profile picture
My Ancient 2005 Duet Front Load:

Normal (40 min's) with no options, 50 min's with more soil and 1 hour with extra rinse - more soil

Heavy Duty - 50 mins no options. Extra rinse add 10 and ore soil add 10 for 1:10 (which is what I almost always use)

Whitest whites: 1 hour no options but defaults to extra rinse. I add more soil for 10 more min's for a total of 1:10

Sanitary is like 2:30 or 2:45

I can speak of delicate and soak because I never use them.

But it's interesting that later Duets and other FL washers started using even longer cycles than my model.

Also, I've noticed that as well. Why was the wash time increased on latter versions of the duet?

Super Eco

The longer the wash/soak duration, the lower the temp can be dropped without sacrificing performance.

Bear in mind, my interpretation of your original question was you wanted to know what the wash time was for cycles, for me that meant just the main wash phase and that's what I provided you, not the complete cycle time. For the complete cycle time, add at least another 35 minutes for the rest of the cycle.

Took over a hour to do a laundry in the 2006 Kenmore front load set but now can get a load of laundry done in 30 to 35 time in my Whirlpool and Maytag set.

@Appnut: Technically I'm looking for the main wash phase, but in reality total cycle times are good to.

My Miele with extra rinse is 59 minutes.  If I select heavy soil, it goes up to 1:56.  The Asko only takes 45 minutes on regular cycle with 4 rinses.

It is true that you can get a load of laundry done in 35 min's...but if I had that Maytag, I'd have to do 2 loads (35 min's each) to wash what my duet could wash in one load. My wash time for typical loads is 1:10, so that's about the same.....but if I had to live with a TL washer, It would definitely be the Maytag Commercial.

Kenmore FL Times

Normal cycle with 'AccelaWash'- 30-35 min (Wash ~15 min)
Normal cycle with 'AccelaWash' and Extra High Spin- 35-40 min
Normal cycle extra hot with 'AccelaWash'- 80-90 min (Wash ~60 min)
Normal cycle without 'AccelaWash'- 60-70 min (Wash ~25-30 min
Normal cycle + AutoSoak without 'AccelaWash'- 90-100 min (Wash ~25-30 + 30 min soak)
Normal cycle extra hot without 'AccelaWash'- 90-100 min (Wash ~60 min)
Normal cycle with steam- 120-140 min (Wash ~90 min.)
Sanitary cycle- 120 minutes (Wash ~50-60 min)

As you can see, any option changes the time drastically.
No to mention, when AccelaWash/TurboWash is on, the wash action on the Normal cycle is more aggressive and has shorter pauses between tumbles. Wash time is also much shorter but depends on load size (~10-15 minutes less). Wash times without AccelaWash/TurboWash on the Normal Cycle can easily be 30 minutes, BUT is much less frequent.

My Samsung

has a quick wash cycle from 22 to 30 minutes with 2 rinses. Normal is from 45 minutes with warm temp., 2 rinses, and high spon speed. Up to 4 rinses can be selected. When I use steam with 3 rinses and medium high spin on a moderate large load, the time is 118 minutes. Loaded to the top, it goes up to 122, 3. 0r 4 min. depending on the sensed weight. I don't think extra time for balancing loads to spin is counted.

I use

accellawash on everything on cycles available with it.

on my Miele, the wash times are quite variable, the shortest duration is about 10 minutes on the Express Wash while the longest is about an hour or so on Cottons but as it senses the load on that programme, the time varies a little, it is possible to make the wash duration last up to 7 hours! how? it also has a Soak option which goes from half an hour up to 6 hours, but in the 15, nearly 16 years I've had it, I've yet to find a reason to use the Soak for that long! :)
