When this dryer came out it was the most advanced and one of the fastest and best performing dryers the world had ever seen. [ and most reliable ]
This dryer used a well proven dryer design and added the most sophisticated control system ever used on a home dryer.
This dryer was completely electronic, no timer and it also had timed dry cycles, { this had been done before ]
What was new was this dryer had a failsafe design that would shut down the machine if it did not sense dry clothing in 110 minutes. It also determined the length of cool-down by figuring in the time it took to get to the selected dryness as well as offering a full 2 1/2 hour Wrinkle Guard option. [ Today 45 years later most good dryers have this type of control system ]
All this including a hamper door so clean clothing does not fall on the floor while loading or unloading and a top mounted lint filter so no lint gets on your clean dry clothing that can be cleaned after you start the dryer so you have no plume of dust as you clean the filter and best of all an easy to service design that allowed this dryer to last 30-40 years or maybe more.
I have had this dryer in Gas for over 30 years as my main dryer, I spent the evening tearing it apart and servicing it to reinstall in my new laundry room, I expect it will last another 30 years which could outlast me.

Yes what great dryers. I acquired a ‘75 lady kenmore pair with a gas dryer in gold and then some time later picked up the matching electric dryer in gold manufactured the same year as the others. When I get everything set up one of these years I believe I’ll put the dryers on either side of the washer.
