I just wanted to ask a quick question that’s been on my mind. How would someone go about finding other vintage machines? Is it just about luck, or is there specific places to look? I’ve always dreamed of owning many vintage washers but i’ve had very little luck in finding any vintage machines such as Frigidaire Jetcone or Unimatic washers, or Kenmores such as the one featured in today’s Picture Of the Day. If anyone has any tips or tricks to finding one, it would be greatly appreciated.

Patience and persistence will be the key to finding these vintage machines. I always wanted a Maytag A806 set from the late 60’s or early 70’s but never had the luck on acquiring one but I can’t complain since I now have my 1963 RCA Whirlpool Imperial Mark XII set in turquoise. I will still keep looking for a Maytag A806 set though.

Tip

 If you want a better chance at getting one possibly faster, be willing to travel quite some distances. If not, always be on the lookout on local websites like OfferUp, Craigslist, FB marketplace, and probably the best place, the shoppers square on AW. I’ve been searching for about a year now, and I’ve found some pretty good stuff, but I’m not really allowed to go anywhere out of state. But in that year, I’ve found some decent stuff, like a Maytag A612, my first full size washer, a speed queen that I fixed up and cleaned up for my mom, and a Recently acquired 89’ Norge. You’ll find good stuff, but the higher your standards are, the less likely, and longer you’ll be looking for. Also, shippers are a great option too for going out of state, or going long distances.

Today’s POD — The 1969-70 Lady Kenmore.

 You want a Lady Kenmore as well?

I sure would want one as well.

Porcelain top, Automatic Dispensers, Vari-Flex Agitator, Lighted Console w/Garage Door Cover, Quiet Pak Construction, and 14 Push-Buttons, and a Timer that stops and locks in place when you push those buttons.

What’s not to like?

That sure is a BEAUTIFUL machine.

I wouldn’t mind a Lady Kenmore but my 1963 RCA Whirlpool Imperial Mark XII is Whirlpool’s version of the Lady Kenmore washer :)

They are out there,check local salvage shops, thrift stores,appliance stores,estate sales, yard sales, etc. You may have to do some work to them and some parts aren't always the easiest to find,but most of the time they can be found. We found our A106 at a Salvage store, paid $30 for it, brought it home gave it a good cleaning and replaced the outer tub to pump hose. Found a DG106 on marketplace for $50,cleaned it up and replaced the acrylic knob and put new pins and rollers in it. We also just got an A308 and DE309 for free from an appliance store that was going to scrap them because they were "too old". Both needed belts and dryer needs a power cord. We have been lucky so far, knock on wood lol, but patience and constantly being on the lookout will help you find what you're looking for.

theres a Norge set posted in Shopper Square.....

plus many others to choose from.....you have to check daily as thing pop up all the time....

at the same time, you CAN NOT procrastinate about a machine, if you find it, you better grab it, as it will be gone before you know it...

A lot depends on location.

If you're out in the boondocks the pickings can be mighty slim and you'll need to expand the search radius and be willing to drive a few hours if necessary.

Go to your local appliance store, and make some friends. Tell them what you are interested in, the older washers and dryers, and that you are willing to pay for them. Then stay in touch with your contact regularly.
