Apparently these machines were hardly ever used as the owner normally used a laundry service and the machines were only used once in a great while for their entire life. They look very clean from the photos. I’m not sure if they’re worth the asking price though as $250 per machine is a little steep in my opinion. But if they are in like new condition then I’m sure they’re worth far more than what $500 would buy you today. It also looks like they have spent their life in a dry area which is invaluable.

Washer has the Super Wash treatment with 4 (or 2) mins of agitation, 2 mins soak, partial drain, proceed into the Regular cycle.  Dryer has thermostatic auto-dry and fully variable temperature between Ex Low and High.

Dryer door is the older full-width design vs. the updated design that left "gap" on either side to account for tight closet installations.

24" washer, slightly smaller capacity versus the full size unit...

With the "Shredmore" agitator, would this machine do the down shift to the slow speed after the first 4 minutes of agitation in the wash portion on the normal cycle like the electronic KA with the two speed motor did?

Tom, probably.  No model stated to allow for research, but the console says "Gentle Wash System" and notice the bit of visible lid instructions references that there's a pause in the Knits/Gentle cycle, presumably at the 4-mins flag such that that the 6-mins Light designation runs 2 mins agitation, 2 mins pause, 2 mins agitation.

DD or belt driven?

Is this a DD set or belt driven. I’m not familiar with how to make that designation without looking under the machine. I’m assuming there are some tell tale signs.

Direct-drive has a round tub cover, produced from 1981 to 2010.  Classic belt-drive is D-shaped (flat at the back) and wouldn't be produced after 1986.  VMW has a round tub cover and production 2010 or later.

GREAT! Set

I have worked with that exact washer. I used it in a restaurant where I ran the kitchen. Using the Super Wash it will clean even the dirtiest foodservice laundry. WE had both valves hooked up to hot water to make it do even better.

Shredmore Agitator??

hobarthero's profile picture
I’m assuming this particular machine had issues being a little rough with clothing?

Yes I'm the one that coined the phrase shredmore.

Right here in town. They would already be gathering dust here if they were Maytags

not my favorite

my mom had a set of these from the late 80s through early 2000s. Was never crazy about the short-stroke agitation or the smaller capacity. THe next generation of whirlpools from around 2004 on was better IMHO.
