I imagine some here will be gratified  :-)  to learn that the 22yo F&P GWL08 that the nephew has been using for 5+ yrs (and wife since May 2019 & baby since Jan 2021) failed in some way involving an apparent leak that made it non-responsive ... but not related to the pump, which is the only repair the machine has ever had (in 2011).

Anyway, they first were going after a Whirlpool VMW or VMAX set (I was never told the model numbers) via a sale that a friend located but it didn't go through (I don't know why).

Next choice they found a 5yo Maytag MVWB835DW and MEDB835DW set on FB nearby to their area.  The sale said "dryer has all new wheels and pulleys" but it failed immediately in some way involving a flapping noise.

So now they got a 9yo LG DLEX5170W dryer, still with the MVWB835 washer that reportedly is OK.

They were going to "landfill" the Maytag dryer, which I advised them against doing that considering it's only 5yo and I'll examine/fix it whenever it can be brought down.

The 22yo F&P/GE-Camco dryer went to her grandmother.  The washer's agitator and pump were saved for me.

Glenn that’s too bad. I have no doubt you could’ve fixed the washer as well.

I didn't get to examine the machine being it's a 5-hr round-trip.  Talked the niece (she's handy) through opening the console.  The pump fuse was not blown (which anyway wouldn't have caused the machine to go dead).  She said a bit of water was in there, and apparently on the floor.  GWL08 has a water-cooled motor board which interfaces to the mixing chamber for both temp sensing and cooling.  Cold water may dribble briefly into the tub (but not during spin) if the reservoir needs refreshing.  It's a bit tricky to pull the board module so I told her not to do that.
