First MT Electronic Control Dryers

Even when I worked fo MT from 1973-77 we never saw one of these cool dryers where the control worked correctly, usually they NEVER shut off on the electronic cycles.

I had always wished they had continued giving the option of timed drying because the next generation EC dryers did not give any real dryness selections and you could never get things like pillows dry unless you had all day to start the dryer 6-10 times.

LOL, you obviously never used one of these dryers.

Actually, John worked for a Maytag sales/service dealership for a good many years so he has experience with Maytag dryers.

Uh huh, take a peek at my collection. I have 11 dryers, 7 are halo of heat, 6 of them are electronic control, 1 of those electronic controls units is first gen that works as intended and has not been repaired. I got that DE701 from the original owner in a little town called Florin, a couple of miles southeast of Sacramento. Never once have I had to dry pillows more than one time in any of my electronic control HOH dryers. My old '81 Kenmore dryer was a completely different story.

John, the subject dryer does have timed cycles from what I can tell on the dial.

Does this mean that the electronic control dryers with no timed cycles have issues with the same moisture sensing system as non-electronic control models?  Dan & John, you are both welcome to answer.

My own experience with a HOH DG806 was a total love affair.  Best dryer I've ever had.  Easy to use, highly efficient, quiet as a mouse and dried perfectly every time.  I loved that dryer, and if I had been a member of this site when its bearing failed, I'd have fixed it and hung onto its companion standard capacity A206, which would have precluded the bad experience with our belt-eating Raytheon Amana washer and its companion incinerator made of pure tin.  Now that was a drying system that totally sucked if there ever was one.
