I have a 1975 KitchenAid Superba - Olive Green - that came with my house when I bought it, and washed the dishes for my family for more than a dozen years. I have made a couple of simple repairs to it over the past dozen years--most recently replacing the timer--but it has finally got to the point where I can't repair it myself.
There's a wire (inside the door of the machine) that has repeatedly failed and been repaired with a spliced-in piece of wire, but the place where the wire failed now doesn't have enough length for me to splice in a new piece. I think now it's time for somebody with more know-how to take this amazing machine and fix it. Or maybe somebody wants it for parts.
It's hard to give up a machine that has been working for more than 40 years! But I hope someone wants the thing, someone who is in driving distance from me. I'm in Northfield MN, 45 minutes south of Minneapolis.
If you are interested, reply here. The machine is free if you are willing to pick it up. I will make arrangements via email with the first taker.
Also time is short. The new dishwasher will be delivered in a week or so, and I will have the delivery guys haul away the KitchenAid if nobody has spoken for it by then.
