Well, as the cold weather is approaching I've been using my AEG condenser more and more. As some people know on here I tend to use Special Care and get very annoyed at the long drying times I have with it... but now that it's come to the time of year where the amount of heat outputted by the dryer is bearable, I have been using the Quick option for laundry which can stand a high heat (towels, sheets etc), and a load of towels which would normally take 1h45 or so with either regular heat (no options selected), or 2 hrs with special care (low heat), now only takes an hour if that with the Quick option.

Everyone say yay for fast drying times in the winter months!

Jon

P.S. And I haven't cursed ONCE at the dryer today... :-)

I actually do use the appliance correctly... if I used the Quick button on my clothes they'd sure be a size smaller :-P.

And I challenge you to survive in my room in the midsts of summer when the dryer is on Quick... :-).

Get that off of high heat! That is an order! ;-) There’s me here with my Miele…

… and my green electricity supplier, Ecotricity… trying to save the Earth… and there’s you with your gas-guzzling high heat! Pah!

Wait. That is my parent’s electricity supplier ’cause they pay the bills!

Erm… Yeah… How dare you waste energy?! Moan moan moan! Waste! Errr… I hate you, Jon and Nick… rant rant rant.

Oh wait… I’ve become a rude, obnoxious person like D----…

;-)

How are you anyway, Nick? :-) OK? :-))

you never fail to put a smile on my face. Im able to use mums dryer on high as its in the garage, and our white knight, ok angelas white knight is vented through the back wall of the kitchen. The Zamussi condenser i had with my ex did make the kitchen unbearable while i was cooking but keeping the door open and the dining room radiator off mean we ate in a nice warm room that was free to heat. well Jon next summer remind me to send you my tomato, chilli and pepper plants over to you, you can grow em in your soft furnished greenhoose! LOL. Nick.

LOL @ Nick and Jon

Well, I have to laugh, Nick, or else I’d probably cry, so I’ll have to make others laugh instead of making them cry. ;-)

When it comes to getting our new dryer, I will have to spend ages fussing over it and making sure everything is done ‘properly’. LOL

For the first few days, I will be the only one who will know how to use it, and my parents will have to wait for me to get up and come alive before they will be able to get their heads around it. ;-)

What’s holding it up is that the shed still isn’t finished, and the freezer needs to go in there so the new tumble dryer can go in the porch (which is brick-built).

Even Mum is getting impatient with Dad because she is looking forward to a new tumble dryer – our first for nearly… wait for it… 30 years! Our old Creda lasted that long! Admittedly, though it was only used every other day during late autumn, winter and early spring, so it did not get much use.

Now… I can just imagine Nick and Jon sweating in a room with the tumble dryer on, both saying, “It’s not hot enough in here!” ;-)

or maybe not Carl. LOL. I cannot abide warm rooms. However (not a boastI) when I was in Egypt in March, Sharm el Sheik in a part called Sharks bay. The temp was getting on for about 36.c and that was not hot enough. I usually hate hot holiday destinations but now i appreciate the chance of such luxury i make the most of it. I also never have the central heating on in my bedroom and if im in during the day i tend to wear my "snuggley" jumper. Everyone has one, usually donkeys years old and really thick. Keep us posted on what dryer you get. Im betting big bucks you get a Miele. Please dont let me down! As we speak our kitchen is warm with the scent of . . . Yes you guessed Comfort Easy Iron while my PJs dry. Stripped the bedding today so its nearly time for a radox bath and an early night. Touch wood scooter will join me for his evening cuddle and the world will be set right for me. Shame I cant keep my eyes open. Wanted to watch brokeback mountain tonight.

my bath woke me up as opposed to finishing me off. Now im Bored, fed up and generally had enough lol. Considerin doing the ironing, thats not like me lately. How i would love a quick drying dryer. The white knight takes 2 hours and more to dry 5kg of towels. The bedding which consists of King size duvet cover, 2 pillowcases and double sheet took a whopping 100 minutes. Something surely aint right. Even from a 800rpm machine i think thats crazy!

Nick,

You might have a simple viral infection, or even a cold or flu perhaps (the latter two are caused by viruses anyway of course). That can sometimes stop you from sleeping, especially if worry is not stopping you from sleeping. Also, such an infection has made you feel rather ‘down’ and not feel up to doing much of your favourite things.

A raised body temperature, as well as one’s immune system being more active, can stop you drifting off to sleep. Sometimes, perhaps in your case tonight, taking a bath can actually make your more alert, not the other way around. That may be indicative of an infection.

Carl

Carl to be honest. . .

aquarius1984's profile picture
my whole body is falling to pieces! So that would not suprise me. On friday im due at the doctors for my chest xray results- to determine why i constantly have a chest infection and shortness of breath. My peak rate flow is poor. The doctor is convinced of asthma. Considerin i moaned of having to pay for a Blue inhaler on prescription i actually find it helps my chest. So maybe. My back of late is constantly in agony due to a problem that is like Sciatica but not. I forget exactly as one tends to switch off when the doctor starts talking of nerves and internal body parts. Im useless around stuff like that. That requires me keeping a stock of Diazepam in. Lethal stuff. When i take it, im out for days. I was going to physio to alleviate it but at £36 a go i cant afford the 2 sessions a week i need to keep it at bay. I face an 8 week long wait to get on the list with the Hospital physio books. Meanwhile im in pain. My job does not help but its a job and it pays. Well enough of my moaning i could be worse off. Goes off to find misplaced specs. . . How i managed this without em is beyond me lol.

No Need to Worry

Nick,

Of course you have a right tp complain – you’re only human. :( Without getting preachy, pain and suffering is a personal thing. It is affects you badly, it affects you badly.

I have asthma, but it is under control. Had pneumonia once – phew! Are you taking a preventive inhaler (brown one) as well?

Will say more later.

Carl

no brown inhaler ........ yet

aquarius1984's profile picture
thing that frightens me is that my Great Nan spent 20 years or more sucking on various inhalers just to live.
coughing up so much rubbish etc etc i dont want to spend my days like that.

but i dont know the facts about Asthma or any medical conditions for that matter, sometimes id rather just be ignorant to stuff.

what killed her was cigarettes. she quit in the late 70s after 50 years of suckin on the damn things. That effectively poisoned her lungs, she got asthma and by the time she quit it was too late.

ok so i dont smoke, cant stand those who do, and try my best to get my friends to stop.

If there are any UK members here that do smoke Please Stop I beg.
Breaks my heart to see anyone light up.
Lots of things break my heart but this is the Major one.

No need to worry about inhalers, Nick

Nick,

Honestly, mate, you won’t end up worse taking inhalers. They really will make you feel so much better. I have been on them for years, and I only take a few puffs of the brown one (brand name: Becotide) a day. They are a preventative – you wouldn’t know that I have asthma. And, to make it clear, my inhalers have not ‘given’ me ME or anything – inhalers are very, very safe and very, very rarely cause side-effects like tiredness.

Remember that it’s not the inhalers that make you worse – it’s the damage done by other factors, like smoking. :-( I really miss my Nan, who died in 2000 of lung cancer, which was caused by smoking. She was like a second Mum to me.

In fact, when down the town at about age 9, someone stopped us in the street and asked my Nan, “What would your son like?” She was so pleased! :-) She did look young for her age – she was 72 when she died – and nice thing is that she never got ‘old’, if you see what I mean. She even knew how to siphon the water out of her Zanussi when it stopped and needed servicing. The Zanussi engineer was so impressed and really pleased because it had saved him so much time and effort! Sounds a bit silly, but I probably like Zanussis because I always remember the ones she had – very quiet, excellent value, smooth machines that never have any trouble. I picked her last one, which was a Zanussi Jetsystem from the early 1990s. I cannot remember the model number – sorry. It outlived her and went to one of my cousins with her two children, so it went somewhere good. :-) I had Nan’s Kenwood Chef mixer instead – love ’em. :-) – which she had serviced before she died. It’s as good as new. :-)

Nick, I am around on MSN right now (and most nights) if you have access right now. My MSN name is in my profile – it’s my e-mail address. If you have trouble, ask Jon, Nick or Darren for it. I will have a word with you about asthma, etc., if you like to put your mind at rest.

Regards,

Carl

I do prefer the original Microsoft program (MSN/Windows Live Messenger), but Trillian might be able to get you going.

However, I do not think it stores your contacts, so you will have to re-enter them manuall if you switch to MSN/Windows Live Messenger.

Actually, Nick, try the link below first. Click on Windows Live Messenger (on the left). Do not worry that it is in beta (being tested). I have had it for ages with no problems. :-)

Kenwood Chefs :-)

My Nan’s is about as old as me, if not a little older (late 70s/early 80s). :-)

Brilliant machine. :-) Ours is in storage but comes out when needed because we’re running out of room in cupboards, but I know a fair bit about them (although not as much as I do washers! LOL).

After Nan died, I cleaned it up. But guess what… not a single bit of dirt or anything came off – it was *perfect*!
