When did refrigerators start getting that textured paint?

Textured finish

This was something that was introduced in the 70's, and I think Whirlpool was the first to feature it. We got a Whirlpool upright freezer in the Summer of 1974, and it had that finish.

It was an effort to reduce finishing costs...less problems with small dings/dents.
