Model # J479002
1970-80

I have an outstanding repair guy (RG) who has kept my beloved 40” range going
The rear two burners died this summer, I ordered replacements through GE, but they’re the wrong models.

RG says the current burners are fine, it’s the wiring that’s crapped out. He’s been trying to find a replacement wiring harness, but zero luck

Hoping the folks here can help. I really, really don’t want to deal with getting a new range, especially since they don’t make 40s any more, and I’d need a “filler cabinet” for the gap between a 30” range and the sink

Kitchen is 12x12 and no gas, so can’t go up in size (and don’t want to escalate this into re-doing my kitchen)

Just Replace The Wires

There never was a wiring harness available for GE or about any other range for that matter.

There are only 3 wires going to each rear burner, appliance parts stores carry 3 conductor bradded wire to fix ranges, this is an easy fix it should only take a good tech between 1/2 and 1 hour to replace the wiring to the rear elements and less than $10 in costs for the wire.

Thank you!

I’ll let him know. Would he need a wiring diagram or is it fairly straightforward?

It should be very straight forward, there should be a wiring diagram in a small paper envelop in side the top rear panel if they need it.
