After nearly two years in the waiting with COVID restrictions we have finally managed to go and see my partner’s parents in France. I’ve seen it many times, but this time I thiught I would share the set up they have here of their dishwasher and washing machine in rural Brittany. I know the Miele isn’t 20 years old, but am told the Brandt dishwasher is by la mère de mon partenaire Jean Noel!

Forgot to mention

This dishwasher has a hob on the top. The in laws have covered it up but here’s a picture.

Many thanks Tomturbomatic for your good wishes.

Regards, Alan

The Brandt dishwasher seems to be a strange beast in more ways than one.

The automatic dispenser on the door seems to be only for the rinse aid. The detergent dispenser appears to be the small white receptacle, on the spray-arm feed pipe, under the upper basket.

Our member Louis (Foraloysius) in the Netherlands had a hob on top of his dishwasher at one time.

Hope you had a grand time away Alan, good to see other appliances of the world, love the idea of compact washing machines, washer dryers and dishwashers but being able to give full size results.

We have an older 70`s Miele Washer Dryer at Als place, well have to get you over now our restrictions are finally lifting .

Yes Tom, I had indeed a hob on top of my dishwasher, but it was a separate appliance. The dishwasher in this thread has a hob built into it. The advantage is that the height is the same as a separate dishwasher. I had to reach sometimes to look into the pots, this is less the case with a French dishwasher combination.

The picture in reply# 2 is a bit vague. Am I right that there are three gas burners and one solid electric one?

I took it to be four gas burners. One of small diameter, two of medium (diagonally offset).

The rear left looks to be of a larger diameter, and the poor contrast of the photo/pic (I'm assuming) seems to have bleached out the vertical sides of the burner.

There were some models that had one solid electric burner. Here's an example.

I’ve only seen the hob once, many years ago, so apologies I can’t remember if it’s gas or electric, but as Louis says it is part of the machine, it was built that way. Jean Noel’s father had the wooden top made to cover the hob, for when they didn’t use it, but I’ve never seen it off to be honest. They have two other ovens and hobs, from when the house was extended and another kitchen added, without removing the other kitchen! Very interesting to see the other Miele’s, I’m fairly sure I have the brochure and instructions to one of them, which I’ll post when I’m back in London.

Thanks everyone for your comments.

Cheers Alan

Ah, I see, thanks.

Would the electric solid plate take its power via the dishwasher's mains flex, or would there be a separate feed cable or flex with plug to power the plate?

Obviously there'd be a separate hose for the gas supply.
