Hello all, I need a transmission donor for my 1971 Lady Kenmore. I had two donors years ago but they both weren't compatible (everything bound up). Does anyone know which years of transmissions would be compatible with the '71 Lady? Also is it feasible to split the transmission to replace the agitator shaft or is that waste of time.
And then what year is this whirlpool? Standard Capacity? Compatible with my machine?

That is a standard capacity Whirlpool from the 80's. It would be a great donor, or any belt drive from say 1981 through 1987. The wear pattern on the agitator shaft is lower from the low center posts, making them prime to swap into tall center post machines like your '71 LK. Swap a new tall post basket drive on the donor transmission and you are set.
Unless you have all the parts to swap in a new agitator shaft/spring/seal assembly on your original transmission it may be easier to find one from a good donor machine. Ben This post was last edited 09/15/2021 at 21:49 |
