My sister went washer shopping today as her 17 year old front loader blew a spring and trashed the inside of the cabinet. She went to a large local dealer who participates in a buying group. He features machines from a dozen major brands.
But, her only choices were GE, LG and Whirlpool. Everything else was out of stock.
I recommended Whirlpool.......

Curious, why Whirlpool? Is there something obvious that I am missing?

Why Whirlpool?

I think of the 3 choices, it's the best. The dealer doesn't offer LG service even though they have their own service dept.

Best New FL Washer Out Of Three Listed Brands

GE and WP are the only 2 that are Union Built, and Whirlpool is the only US owned company of the three.

Given that all three machines are probably pretty good I think these two reasons give Whirlpool a clear advantage.

While not washer related this might be relevant.  We were recently shopping for a new Freezer.  We didn't want one of those 20+ cubic feet monstors but a mid sized upright freezer.  Everywhere we went they told a one to two month wait to get anything.  We picked an upright that we really liked and fit well in the space we had.  Of all the places we contacted they said a minimum one month wait if not more.

So for the heck of it we went on the Samsung website.  Their cart said it would ship a few days later.  Reluctantly we ordered it assuming we would get an email stating we would have to wait some extended amount of time.  Well, we placed the order on Thursday and the following Tuesday it was delivered.

It may or may not apply to one of the options she is considering but it doesn't hurt to check it out.

So, it might be worth it to check out this route should once you decide which one you want if they tell you there is a long wait.  They were also running a $80 off promotion, no shipping fee and in our case we got an additional postal worker discount because my husband works for them.

100% agree with you John.
Whirlpool, Maytag, KitchenAid, Amana, Roper etc…..
most products built by Whirlpool in America by Americans!!!

GE some products built in America but GE = CHINESE HAIER!

LG, Washers now made in US, a plus, but still a Chinese company,
don’t get me wrong I like their products but with a purchase on the line I’d go with a Whirlpool product.

Mike, LG is South Korean. Not Chinese.

Before anyone considers Samsung, you need to do some due diligence research. There may be a reason they are always "in stock" and not "in demand."

One starting point to look over is this; if you're not averse to Facebook.
www.facebook.com/groups/1...

I've personally spent time in S. Korea working at a Samsung facility where I was able to see how the corporate culture is. It was enough to drive me away from anything from that company.

general rule of thumb that I've heard: stay away from samsung, and stay away from LG if you're looking at anything other than laundry and maybe dishwashing.
