John,
I trust your business knowledge and appliance reviews. Is Speed Queen suspending production of the best machine they currently make? The FF7 front loader and matching dryer? Is this true and if so is it due to Covid? I talked my brother into buying the SQ front load stack and he and his wife LOVE IT.
I wanted to buy myself an FF7 and matching dryer later this year. Give me your thoughts please. As always thank you for your sound advice.
Mike

Speed Queen FL Machines

We have not heard about these machines are being discontinued, the factory has told us that they will be in short supply and customers often have to wait to get them, we had one customer wait 4 months to get a SS FL pair but we got them and installed them a few weeks ago.

Everything is in short supply….

I love that pair! It’s gorgeous! My sister-in-law and brother just renovated their kitchen. It took months to get the matching Maytag appliances they wanted. The SQ stack was in stock but everything else was a waiting game. Same for my Anderson slider, it took months but it was worth the wait. I’m going to buy myself the FF7 and matching dryer for Christmas. Seeing the performance of my brothers washer made me realize what a great job it does using less water while holding a big load of laundry. Thanks John,
btw I replaced the timer on my dryer and it works perfectly.

I agree, that really is a gorgeous looking pair:) I wished they made the FR7 and DR7 in stainless steel. Do they also offer stainless steel pedestals for both the washer and dryer?

I believe the pedestals for these machines only comes in black.
White if you buy a white set.

Wow, those sure are gorgeous machines! It even looks like the sides are stainless steel! Now if SQ would get a heater in that washer and upgrade the dryer to have steam like all their other dryers, they'd be perfect!

Speed Queen SS FL Washer & Dryers

Are all made of real non-magnetic SS except for the rear panel and the steel base.

From what I see they have very little plastic content as theater tub is also SS.

We like them because of the no-nonsense way they go through a cycle not constantly trying to decide if it wants to spin or not etc.

Because they are true commercial machines they are simple to work on, you sit down in front of the washer and remove4 screws and you can have the pump assembly out and in your hands in less than 60 seconds.

Yes if it was up to me I would put a heater in the washer, my 16 YO SQ FL washer has a heater but I almost never use it, takes far too much electricity when I already have cheaper natural gas heated water, probably better for people in all electric homes, but even in an all electric home I would use a heat-pump water heater any way.

Well John, my water heater is in the garage in an enclosed closet that contains the water heater as well as the air handler/blower for the HVAC. So I don't have the luxury of being able to install a hybrid water heater there isn't enough open space to meet installation requirements.

My friend has the FF7 for 8 months now - I am very impressed it goes through the cycle quickly and doesnt waste time, and uses enough water. You can even get up to 5 rinses. I monitored a whole cycle and thought it was awsome. It also seemed like it did spray rinses in between. I hope they dont stop making them.

Well Bob, you may just have to move the water heater or modify the closet,

it will be done sooner or later, you can either invest in the future or wait till you are gone and let someone else do it.

Hey Bob

If your in Texas, then get solar hotwater. It should then be free for the bulk of the year.

I assume the US must have equivalent products?

You still need a heater in your frontloader though 😈

Cheers

Nathan

FF7 on back order

I went to my appliance dealer today and he told me neither the washer or dryer are availble, there is a waiting list, the factory can't keep up. I am sure this is Covid related like everything else.
