Hi everyone. I think I already know the answer, but want to ask just in case.
Is there a modern day washer/dryer combo that uses gas for drying clothes? I'm obsessed with the Bendix Duomatic as well as the RCA Whirlpool Washer-Dryer from 1958 and up, but these are extremely rare and I don't expect I'll ever get the chance to own one. However, I'm looking at modern laundry solutions. We live off-grid and use solar/propane for everything. I'm considering an older washer/dryer set with gas drying I could convert to LP such as 1970 era Maytags. Ideally though, I'd love to have an all-in-one machine. Any ideas? |

Colby, I can tell you from experience--my next door neighbor growing up had a 1959 LK Combo as well as a 1964 LK Combo. both gas models and both met their demise when the intense gas heat burned through its shield/outer tub due to the intense heat generated by the High BTUs to get the load dried and/or water temperature maintained. And was too expensive to repair.
