I'm currently returning home from a holiday up north.

Decided to do a load of laundry in the local laundromat as I was leaving but my brother was coming to stay for the remainder with my mum.
So I grabbed some towels, some whites from my mum and the bedding from my bed.


I know this laundromat since childhood.
It used to be somewhere else in town with only 5 of the red Nyborg dryers and 10 of the simpler Mieles.

Then when the owners son took over they moved to a bigger shop and added 4 more dryers plus 2 higher speced Mieles.
Plus the 2 large Mieles.

Since I last was there 4 years ago they threw out one of the high spec machines, 3 of the low spec ones and added 2 W1-gen and 2 Navitronic-gen machines. Further they changed out 3 dryers for Mieles.
I met the owner and his son at the store today and just last week they changed out 3 more of the Nyborg dryers for the most recent gen Miele gas dryers.



All washers have brushless motors, so they are later revisions.
The ones with just 7 cycles have the standard drum though.
The one with the 23 cycles has the honeycomb drum.

Funny enough, the Navitronic machines are set up with just 4 cycles while the W1 machine is set up for full cycle access with many if not all optional cycles enabled.

They all run hot/cold fill with full heating power which makes for fast and thorough cleaning.
All a drain valve machines.

The large machines have a very interesting cycle selection.
I personally love that style of machine, sadly very hard to come by these in laundromats.

All dryers are gas.


I selected the bedlinen cycle on the W1 with a pre-wash clocking in at 54min.
Should have just stuck to normal Cottons as that would have given me more wash action and 1600rpm final spin.
But the results were nice though the towels were rather damp after the short 1200rpm spin.



The Nyborg dryers don't reverse and have bad airflow, so I don't use these much.
Very simple, industrial and rugged design though.
And a very nice translation-mistake as the panel still features the Swedish word for "heat".

There is one older Miele dryer in the corner.
That was my go-to dryer when there were only Nyborg-ones. Typical Miele performance, though smaller 200l drum.

The line of newer dryers at the back is Mieles last gen dryers.
Basically the same, just slightly larger drum and pushbutton selection.

But the new line is very interesting.
Still 250l drum, though looking slightly different.
Dial temp selection with touch start button.
They have a "paid" light, though they take a few seconds to register that status after every time you open the door.
The dryers do a 30s cool tumble before starting the heating to loosen items up.
Then the little burner icon comes on.
The motors for the drum are variable speed inverter driven. The fan motors might be as well, though not sure about that.
They are virtually silent. Great airflow, fast drying. And even reversing and incredibly steady tumbling.
Still feel solid as rock. Only the UI is a little slow, but that might just be the pretty old payment setup.



Overall great family owned store.
Only prices got pretty steep (5€ for the small machine, 10€ for the large ones, 1€ for 10min of drying).

But a lot of sentimental value!

It's fun to hear about commercial laundry experiences. I've stayed at hotels at least a dozen times this summer and always find an excuse to do a load of laundry if there's a coin-op guest laundry on the premises. Thanks for taking the time to provide all the information and photos.
