I paid a little visit up to a museum in Idaho today, there were some VERY old washers and boxes of detergent I took some photos of. Thought that I'd share them on here.

Thank you for sharing. Can you tell us more about the machine in picture #2? The design resembles a friend's 1910 Cataract which rocked back and forth causing the fabrics to slide over the ribbed base of the tub.

Too cool! Since I was born and grew up in Pocatello Idaho, I'll be sure to visit Don Aslett's Museum of clean on my next visit home.

Thank you. It is amazing how many producers of other products found a way to turn them into newer products that were coming into demand sort of like Johnny Studebaker going from making covered wagons to automobiles.

That museum,

Alex,

is impressive!

Seems like some very rare antiques there... I like those Maytags.

Were you aware of Lee Maxwell's museum (located in Colorado)?
(see link)

Btw, my U.S. model of the Hoovermatic came in 2012 from the
region of Ogden UT - which you may know quite well;
it costed me a lot of bucks to get it, here in the north!

I have read Don Aslett's book, "Clutter's Last Stand," and its message is far more serious than its tone. I can say it has had an effect on my behavior.
