A young—mid 30s, I’d say—Hispanic couple moved into the apartment directly behind mine in our 8-plex. They had a new Amana top-loading set delivered and installed today by the local Whirlpool/KitchenAid/Maytag/Amana dealer. Their pair sits right next to mine in our laundry area/pass-through hallway.

Wanted to take a couple of snaps, but the pass-through was fairly busy this evening with tenants either heading to or returning from the garage stalls behind the building. Also, three of the four apts on the upper level—count me as one of them—are doing laundry, so I didn’t want to get caught taking photos of the gleaming new Amanas. There’s kind of an unspoken code that none of us touch or ogle at each other’s laundry equipment.

So, photos shown here came from the internet. I think Eddie (ea56) has this same, inexpensive pair and has been very happy with their performance. Saw the pair priced at around $950 online and the local dealer probably matched or came very close to that price point.

The washer has a 3.5 cu. ft. tub with a dual-action agitator. The dryer’s drum is 6.5 cu. ft.

Did this couple move into the apartment that was occupied by the couple that bought the trouble-proned WP 6620 pair?

You are correct about the washer Eugene, I have the Roper sister ship, the only difference is grey/black paint on the control panel. I’ve been very happy with. Does just what it’s supposed to do with no drama and quickly. I hope your new neighbors will like theirs. My dryer is a Maytag Centennial about 5 years old, also drama free, simple and quick.

Bob- Correct. The couple with the new front-loading Whirlpool 6620 pair purchased a house and moved out last month. I really liked the styling and features/cycles of the washer, but it developed serious leaks a couple of times--causing a 4-6 week wait on parts each time due to covid-related production issues--so the dealer replaced it with a new machine of the same model. No problems with that one. I guess a person sometimes just gets a lemon.

Eddie- Thanks for chiming in on this one. I forgot that you have the Roper-badged version and that you kept the Maytag dryer. May they both provide many more trouble-free loads for you!
