I have a metal pan that sits above the broiler element at the oven ceiling and below the hole for the heat to escape out. Am I suppose to remove this when not broiling? Or is this removeable only for cleaning ease? Attaching vid that shows briefly the pan.

This “pan” is left in place when broiling. I believe its purpose is to both shield to protect the ceiling of the oven from grease splatters and to also reflect the heat down onto the meat or other foods that are being broiled. I have a similar setup in my GE oven and it never requires cleaning. Any grease that splatters onto it is burnt off during the extreme heat generated during the broiling process.

It's called the broiler reflector. It is made of aluminized steel.

broiler reflector

Thank you for the name and the fast responses. Do I remove it when I'm not broiling? I've felt like my oven doesn't release the heat well through the back burner and I wonder if this has been the problem always having the reflector in there.

No, don’t remove it, leave it in place.

Older Frigidaire ranges said to pullout the surface units guide to protect the control knobs from the heat generated by the broiler element.

You do not need a great release of heat through the oven vent of an electric range like through the oven vent of a gas range. With an electric range, you are mainly venting moisture from the cooking. With a gas range, you are venting the draft necessary for oxygen for the oven burner.
