Well folks, after much trial and tribulation tonight, my A212S is home. Bought from an appliance store with warranty (amazing right?! It’s a 1984 machine after all!) and they have had a time this week with the Sud Saver portion. Rest of the machine works great. Turns out, SS needs a solenoid. If anybody has a link on one of those, I would be forever indebted. Otherwise… machine works fabulously! I’ve been watching for a Sud Saver but have been too nervous to pull the trigger on used via individuals (ended up with duds too many times!) but I called around and found this place which had my machine in their warehouse. Excited to use it, wanted something good and reliable for a while and finally found it.
Worked all fine (minus SS) in shop, but when they got here it started leaking like a sieve. Loose pipe. Took a while but they got it. Now I’m just on the lookout for a new solenoid for the sud saver. Also need to get a wash tub and adjust my setup tomorrow (I’m used to my little portable Inglis!) I will say I am oh so happy to move up into the “full size” vintage machines. I love my little portable but she needs service again so away she went after they finished with the Maytag. Here’s some photos… this machine is beautiful and very clean!

Love the tempt guide on your Inglis portable. Looks like the pride flag.

Very cool!

And I see you have the compact dryer, for the portable Inglis washer, on the stacking rack. That is soooo cool!

Best of luck finding the solenoid to get the suds saver working. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you
😊🤞

Congratulations!! Looks like a very nice washer that will give many years of service, hopefully. I liked that Maytag were so dependable and quiet running.

After a little rearranging…

We are operational! Just did the inaugural load in it and wow, I am impressed. What a great machine all around. I expected “good” from Maytag, but didn’t realize just how good it would be. Loving it.
