Hi everyone,

I'm moving house and having to get rid of my old trusty Smeg dishwasher. Model S 7080, made in Italy. Probably late 1970s early 1980s.
Before it goes to landfill or to a scrap collector, I was kind of hoping it might go to a collector. Shame to see it go to waste.

It still works great and I've used to regularly for the past 15 years. Before that it was inherited after a friend's kitchen renovation.
I don't know exactly how old it is as I can't find any reference to it on the internet. Maybe someone here might have more knowledge.

If you're in Western Australia and would like it, feel free to contact me.
Check out the ebay link below for some pics.

Thanks!

You have made a joke also made by every teenage Australian boy who ever saw a Smeg appliance.

Joking aside and as a salesman over the years we have heard that at more ha ha..but they have given us colour and a great range of cookers and appliances over the years.

SMEG History:
"Founded in 1948 by Vittorio Bertazzoni as an enameling and metalworking company, the Smeg company preserves the memory of the activity initially carried out in the acronym Smalterie Metallurgiche Emiliane Guastalla.

Over time, the brand has consolidated its reputation as a symbol for appliances renowned for their design aesthetic and use of technology.

From the 1950s, the company’s metalworking background was accompanied by the production of its first cooking appliances. In 1956, the company presented “Elisabeth”, one of the first gas cookers equipped with automatic ignition, safety valve in the oven and cooking programmer.

In the sixties, Smeg introduced its first ever washing machine, the ‘Leda’, and then developed this specialism further, when in 1970 Smeg introduced a world premiere: the 60 cm Niagara dishwasher, known for its unprecedented load capacity of 14 place settings.

In 1971, the company began the production of built-in hobs and ovens, products by which the company has built its history."

Hello Clint and a warm welcome to Automatic Washer Club. Your Smeg dishwasher looks in great nic for its age and am sure if over here it would be snatched up in a heartbeat. It does look similar to the Bendix dishwasher which again was made in Italy and am not sure if Smeg might have had it made by Bendix and badged for them, either way its a win win. Hope someone manages to pick it up from you !!

Regards, Mike

Welcome Clint

That’s a weird hybrid of the Mark 8 Dishlex The Dishlex machines were branded Dishlex/Smeg for years in the 60s and 70s. The cabinet of yours is Dishlex based, but the racks and wash system are not. It’s a very interesting hybrid.

Welcome

Rebranded Smeg dishwashers

Hi everyone,
I have been to the Bonferraro factory where Smeg build their dishwashers. They have a mini-museum of some of the brands they built.

Thanks for the warm welcome and super interesting info guys.

It does definitely look like Smeg branded Dishlex.

I might even contact Smeg Australia and see if they know any more about it.

Bizarre to see a Sears-branded unit. Wonder if it was for Mexico or one of the other locales where Sears operated. They did sell some stackable compact FL washer/dryers, I believe, which came from Italy.
