Norge had the perfect system for using Calgon with the overflow rinse, although not so great with a cold water rinse, but the Calgon was dispensed at the start of the rinse to make the water all slippery and soft then the Calgon-rich water was diluted and flushed away during the overflow rinse. This was a short-lived device because it was almost immediately replaced by the puke-o-lator agitator-mounted lint filter and the top of the line Dispensomat had a control panel mounted flush through dispenser for Calgon so they could offer both lint filtering and Calgon in the rinse, if desired and if you bought top of the line, but that was after 1957.

I’ve seen this ad many times and just noticed that she’s pouring powdered Calgon into the dispenser wheel. Was it diluted with water as well? I know how the dispenser works with liquid but not sure how dry powder could spin out of the wheel into the tub..?
