So the control board was replaced in August under warranty, now it's back to it's usual unusual behaviour trying to get through a cycle and I wait again for another service call. Are there many people out there having similar issues with this machine? I know I heard of one person having it replaced, but was it just control board issues?

what is it doing, or rather what is it *not* doing?

takes forever

to go through a cycle, an extra 30-45 minutes, no matter how large or small the load, especially on the final spin. The chime rings through the cycle like the machine is done and it may have just started, the clean washer light stays, or just flashes on, even after you put it through the cycle, and then the time remaining turns into zero's or two dashes on the screen, after it chimes, and then sometimes it'll just pause, for a long mother of a time, for the shear fun of it all.

I have the model below yours...lots of oddities...most notable was the failure to comply with selected temperatures...thought it was defective and had it replaced...same situation with new machine..could never get a hot wash on "Normal"...used "Delicates" and "Quick" often, but rinsing was poor, due to only one spin...and final spin would take up to 10 minutes to complete...it's in the garage, and I use it for the cat beds and throw rugs...

roscoe62,

did you call whirlpool directly or your local service tech or your store and some stores where purchuse if washer turns out to be a lemon as they say they will replace it but for that you would need to call to check with whirlpool aspecaly if your washer is defective?

Hey Pierre,
Did call Whirpool, I have an extended warranty for service, my whirlpool fridge similar problems with control board. The cost of extended warranty already covered with this recurring issue, Tks.

JUST MY OPINION

But, I think Whirlpool has really taken the quality out of their products! As I have said before, "The Quality goes out, Before the name goes on. After hearing about their fire trap refrigerators, I won't buy or endorse anything they make! Again this is just my opinion!
Hugs,
David

David, tht's one of the many reasons why my dishwasher bought in May is a Bosch and the dryer & wash bought in August nd November are LG.

Sounds like Whirlpool is going to the dogs. I had an LG laundry pair and sold them when I moved to have new appliances in my new home.
I guess I had been better off holding onto those, as my Whirlpool fridge has had two controls boards replaced in three years. Oddly enough the other part is not all models, doesn't matter the brand, are available in white here in Canada, only the US.

Repair guy just left

Another control board, pressure switch, and door lock need replacing, pretty soon it'll be an all new machine again.Well once the parts come in, I had a two month wait the last time, should be interesting to see how long it'll take this time around.

I just came home from running an errand. Neighbor across the street and on the corner had a Whirlpool washer sitting in their driveway that looks like a WTW4950 & WTW5000. Probably 3-5 years old. The comparable looking Kenmore was added to Sears web site October 2014. The two washers that looks the same on Home Depot's web site oldest reviews were October 2014 and April 2018.

just my suggestion if this is the second repair on your washer maybe you should consider calling the store where you purchuse your washer to consider an exchange or call whirllpool about exchanging your washer if you went a front load i would suggest this maytag model www.maytag.ca/fr_ca/washe... or lg fl but if you went a top load i would consider speed queen tr7 or tc5 classic clean and avoid the whirlpool brand when my mom and i replace washer dryer we lost trust in whirlpool ence we went with maytag and my mom for the summer cottage went for the lg 4000 series washer wm4100hba with matching dryer pic of the set at the summer cottage

Surge Protector?

littlegreeny's profile picture
Sorry to hear of your washer woes! Do you happen to have your washer plugged into a surge protector? Whirlpool seems to have some serious issues with their control boards failing. I wonder if they are susceptible to power fluctuations and if using a surge protector would help?

Post# 1133622 , Reply# 13   11/15/2021 at 18:35 (882 days old) by Roscoe62 (Canada)

I have a surge protector on the power panel to protect everything as we are prone to power surge periodically.
Pierre, I like the new LG but can't get it in white, I also have extended warranty that right now is paying for itself.

From this point on.... I think the ONLY thing that I would buy from Whirlpool is their classic dryers....Currently, I have a 2 (maybe 3) I can't remember side X side fridge...Had no issues (knock on wood)....May I ask what you mean by fire trap refrigerators....? I must have missed something. Is it certain models? When/if it comes time to buy a dishwasher will be my only issue...because I've always liked Maytag (made by WP)... I hate that WP has gone downhill. I really have no complaints with anything I have of theirs in my house, but the only new thing is the dryer (and even that's 2 years old now)...My microwave from 2004 still works. No issues. The Self-cleaning oven from 2004 still works. My Duet washer from 2005 still works. But they were a totally different company back then.

My new dryer is almost like yours Mark, less the hamper door. It works well, fingers crossed, but once in a while makes a ringing noise accompanied by a rattle on the top part of the cabinet, not the panel, so who knows what surprise is waiting under there for me some day (?).
Probably when I have lots of laundry, it's snowing, and a holiday with nothing opened, no not even the laundromats LOL !!
